Hi all prospective students!

I have lots of great, relatively new study materials for the NBCOT 2009. I have the official NBCOT study guide, the Rita Cottrell Study Guide, the Johnson study guide and some others. If anyone is interested in buying them from me second hand, please contact me. They are all in very good condition.

Glad I found this blog too!
Do you guys know for the first section if it was a "positive" option, but you don't choose it, do you get either points rewarded, or points deducted? Also, does anyone know why the hell this exam is $500?!!!

Is is unethical to talk about the test with others who have also taken it? Also if you have to take it again, is it very different?
Thanks!

Megan, I agree. It wasn't a question on the test, but in the Rita book, they asked a question about autonomic dysreflexia, and what should you do. Their answer? Empty the catheter bag. As an entry-level therapist I have no freaking clue how to do that. My solution? Call a nurse pronto! In fact, I'm sure I'd make the situation worse. Some of the specific splinting questions are also ridiculous, and only seem appropriate for those who have been working in a hand clinic, not entry-level therapists. Too many questions were very interpretive. Some of the questions I wouldn't have done any of the options. I think one of OT's biggest strengths and biggest weakness is how broad it is. There is just too much to know, that no entry level therapist could possibly retain.

PS Does anyone else feel that their school should have done a little more to help with the test? Mine basically told us to just look over notes.

Hey guys,
I just took the test the other day and am having EXTREME post test anxiety. I can't stop thinking of the questions I got wrong, that as soon as I stepped out I was like "WHY did I put that?" And there is nothing worse when people say "I'm sure you did fine." Isn't that the worst? What do they know? Anyways, I've kinda accepted that I may have to take it again. Anyone have any tips for my post-test anxiety? Also, anyone in the upper South Carolina area (Greenville-ish) who needs to study?

Hey jaybo:
Wow, this is interesting! Do you have any information of these new "initiatives"? If the passing rate from the old version of the test went from 85% to around 70% now, that should be a clear indicator that something is wrong and unfair. Anyways, thanks jaybo for the info.

WOOO!! Found out I passed!! This was a long journey, but I believed in myself and got through this hump of disappointment. Thank you for this blog because I was able to contact other people in my situation. I have The NBCOT study guide that I would like to sell for $50: NBCOT content exam questions with answers for peds, physdys (rationale included), mental health, and management quest.for $35.00 and the study guide and questions from http://nbcotexam.blogspot.com/ for $40.00. To all , these two study guides from NBCOT study guide and the other, along with researching info from text books, such as Trombly and Pedretti helped me pass. The Rita book had good general info but lacked detail. Good luck to all!! Pleas email me at meowww_kitty_kat@yahoo.com
